Re: Bottom arm discussion continues...

There are a lot of things that we do in training that we don't do in the vault, we don't vault on a highbar, we don't vault in a weight room etc.
We do these things because they can help us train certain parts of the vault, so I am interested what is the reason(s)for and against the one arm drill.

Re: Let's start a drill database!

i have to say that one of the best drills i have done to teach swing timing is a "1 handed swing for length" drill. it is similar to the one handed plants mentioned before, except after you take off you swing and try and get as deep in the pit as possible landing flat on your back, or for ...

Re: Is Pushing with the Bottom Arm Good or Bad?

kirkb i believe the term agapit usually uses when he talks about the iniataion of the swing/pull is "after the takeoff is completed" which can be different from what you said which was "when the pole hits the back of the box". for a long time i was confused by what this meant bec...

Re: Is Pushing with the Bottom Arm Good or Bad?

correct me if i am wrong, but from how i read agapits posts, and i have never met him, so its all from his posts, was that the lat pull/pull only begins after the pole vaulter has passed the cord of the pole i.e. there is a line from the top hand all the way down to the foot, and that it was primari...

Re: Age Controversy in Gymnastics?

i have often wondered why they dont change some of the events, ie. either make the womans uneven bars further apart or just have woman do the high bar like the men, i know there is tradition involved but surely the events can be changed so the advantage younger girls get is not so great. but i certa...

Re: Age Controversy in Gymnastics?

i have some questions,

why are 13 year olds better than girls who are 16?
why is gymnastics pretty much the only sport in the world where this is the case?
why dont they make some adjustments to the events/scoring so that it would suit more developed women?

i believe mj's m/s speed was in the low 12s which equals about 43km an hour, i am sure i have seen on a number of times that his top speed is the fastest ever(he ran the second hundred of his 200 in 9.2 seconds). so i have always wondered why he didnt ever get asked to run in the mens 4*100, in whic...
