Re: Just Noticing
I cant say just using a shorter pole per the same hand grip is nescessairly safer. The myth we always use to dispell was that you absoultly have to hold the pole at the top. That always seemed to be the saftey problem with longer poles; people switching to a longer lenght and moving their handgrip i...

Re: Speed Training
I never reccomend for anybody to quit a sport or event, unless its detrimental, or (honestly, these are kids) they just plain hate it. But anyway... That is awesome that you got a good offseason workout, that was something I would have loved, but most my offseason was bailing hay and computer progra...

Do you not use tape?
This seems like a dumb question, but seriously, did/does anyone not use tape on their pole. Quick story... Back in high school, the skin on my hands was always peeling during season. For one reason or another, I figured it was a chemical in the good ol J&J medical tape we were using, so I just d...

Re: Technique Critique
you got a bit of what I called 'short pole syndrom'. Really easy to get when going from 14's to 15's. Basically, you start tucking your swing leg into your body to get back faster. You, me, anybody, has to do this on shorter poles (13',14') or they will unbend on you. On longer poles (15'+), you hav...

Re: Bending Trail Leg?
think of the vault as nothing more than stiff pole vaulting and to ignore the bend. I'd like to have this etched into steel and just point at it. It seems everytime I comment or I'm asked about something, I come back to some form of this. Technically, the vault is simple speed and efficiency right....

Re: flat takeoff
Flat takeoff is turning into a popular term... It could be a few things, but with out a video, pole size, your height, really without more info its hard to tell. Here's something that might help more then blind advice. Everyone has some sort of drill they do when warming up. We used to call them one...

Re: When is it too young to start PV?
I didn't start till I was 15 or 16 personally. Now I'm woundering if my son will want to take it up. He's 9 years old, over 5'1", and I just weighted him at 90 something. Problem is he's lazy and doesn't like the outdoors. Maybe I could convince him its a video game...

Just Noticing
So I haven't been on here for some 6,8,10 years, not sure, but I had to sell some stuff so I popped back on. Out of curiosity, I jumped around some of the forums and sprinkled in my 2 cents here and there, but started to notice a trend. It seems to me, being a good decade removed, that the young vau...

Re: How to stay behind the pole? (With Video)
1: fix your step, you tend to be under 2: jump up more (push off your toes) 3: arms up on take off 4: row up, out, and away from your body, not pulling. 5: and alwas always always keep the pole moving(refer to 4) If you do this right, the pole won't bend so much, because you'll be jumping over the b...

Re: Plant question?
Fundamentally? straight up over your body. It kind of follows the whole efficiency thing. Go by this: When you are at the top of your plant/takeoff/end of run, your top hand should be directly over your shoulders, which should be directly over your hips, which should be directly over your take-off f...

Re: Pole drop
I watched your video. You look comfortable while running and efficient while planting, so really I wouldn't worry about the drop and the level unless you feel that your getting pulled forward or pushed back during your run/plant. The question I had was what was the lenght of the pole? One tip: Somet...

Slight correction. I WILL ship poles if desired, but if the buyer wants to meet up for or have them delivered, I'll gladely work something out.
