I came across a 2003 model Catapole at our school and cannot determine whether the label is to face the pit at takeoff or the vaulter. It reads "this side up" but the thing has no pre bend and

kick off record
Has anyone ever heard of a record for kicking a bar off. We've all done it at practice. Surely if someone can clear 5.50+ then they could in theory kick off, or touch some pretty high bars.

Re: Help...Shipping Poles
Jim,
You should check with Southeastern Freight and see what they say. I shipped some poles from Dallas to Alaska. It wasn't cheap but they got it done. If not, check with Red Baron in Pineville. He's independent and may have some input if he can't help.
Good luck, Pal.

Rowing?
It's probably been covered already but here goes: I watched some practice footage of an accomplished female and noticed that after a great plant and takeoff, she forcibly moved her top hand toward the pit. It appeared to me that the pole instantly compressed, stopped rolling forward and commenced to...

Re: Old 13 160 sky pole
Check it for nicks and cracks. Measure it to see if it has been altered and look for a date of manufacture. For high school it needs a band to indicate maximum hand hold and weight rating.
Pictures would be good.

Re: Throwing the head back
I agree with Kirk. You see far too many kids doing it and all it does is disorient them. My thought is that you need to see your top hand, feet and crossbar. That is hard to do with your head thrown back. As your hips rise toward your hands the shoulders should drop, not the head.
