i dont know. a whole foot seems a like its too much. there is no way that when i thought i was jumping at 14'3" it was actually 13'3". i mean dont you think that you would notice? with that many experienced vaulters there, someone would have to notice a whole foot. i would agree that it is...

i agree with asianvaulter. clear your mind. meets are not the time to think about what you are doing, that is what practice is for. at least for me, i dont like looking at the bar, it just psychs me out. just know that you can do it, you have done it before, just do it again...

the thing about pole vaulting, unlike any other sport, is you are not supposed to think during the meets. practice is the time for thinking about your jump and fine tuning your form. its hard to actually get better at meets. before you jump just clear your mind. know that you can do it, you do it ev...

thanks. sorry i dont have any good footage... but the pole dose gradually fall into the right spot and i run the end of my approach with it in between my shoulders. its just the first couple steps where it is comfortable to have it out to the left.

approach/pole carry question

when i start my approach the pole starts kind of swung out to the left (im a righty). and i eventually correct it and bring it to the center between my shoulders, but that doesnt happen until about half way through my approach. i dont really have problems planting or any thing but i was wondering if...

how is dose carbon fiber bend differently?

i was just curious... i always hear how amazing carbon fiber poles are, i talked to my coach about it and he said that they are hard to get used to because they have a different kind of bend to them. i have seen other vaulters at meets jump on them and it looks to me like it launches the vaulter up ...

i think that taking an entire season to change the way you run is being a little dramatic. although you may need to change your running form slightly i dont think that running cross country will make you less of a vaulter. i agree that there are other more beneficial things you can be doing, but it ...

Re: off season

DO NOT DO CROSS COUNTRY!! IT WILL SCREW UP WHAT RUN YOU MAY HAVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THAT IS NOT TRUE! saying that cross country messes up your run is complete bogus! that is just a myth. your slow twitch and fast twitch muscles have nothing to do with each other. if one gets stronger then ...
