Last Meet of the Winter

So this season was much worse than my expectations due to a variety of reasons, but I still managed to end it on a good note. The video is my jump over 12ft, which matched my outdoor PR. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dsp2A2ZYukw The stats are: 12'9" Grip 13'7" 175 UCS Spirit 6 Lefts from ...

Re: Need a lot of help

I have smaller poles I usually warm up with a 12' 140 from my 4 step for popups holding around 10' and my 6 step(65') holding at 11'6. I could probably use the 12' from a shorter step and the 13' from a shorter step, I think i'm going to keep a 6 step until I am able to clear 11'6 or 12' I realized...

Re: 14'10 at Reno

Nice jump! You're doing a lot of things right in your jump, but the biggest issue I see is your trail leg during take off. Once you take off, you break a lot at the knee and then fully extend it once you hit the chord of the pole. You should focus on trying to keep the leg mostly straight, it can be...

Re: Moving up poles

This might get off topic just a little so im sorry.... but what would happen if they just made a pole the same all the way from top to bottom? You have that much pole, why not have it all bend equally? hmm, my guess would be that there would be WAY too many points of stress on the pole and that it ...

Re: Moving up poles

BUT that is just technical work that would help, I think your issue is just timing, if that is the first couple times jumping on that pole you bump up 2 inches in grip and the 6 inches in pole. Essentially holding the same place on a longer pole you need to realize that the sail piece is now higher...

Re: Penn State Track and Field Camp

For vaulters it focuses on the vault. There will be a session with Penn State's sports Nutritionist and sports physiologist. To my understanding there are three sessions a day, I think its set up as such... the first will be training theory and plant/run development, second will be drills and light...

Re: Penn State Track and Field Camp

Penn State's camp July 12 --> 16 and July 19 --> 23 should be great this year, I can almost assure their vault camp will be one of the best in the country. http://www.outreach.psu.edu/psu-sport-camps Cheers -bel Hey, Was just looking at this camp. Re: THE BEST THREADS FOR BEGINNERS TO READ!

My only advice to beginners is: 1) If you focus on bending the pole, you won't get very far. The bend will come eventually. 2) You get want put into this sport, the harder you train, the better you'll get! 3) If you put in the effort, PRs will come, even if they come later than you wanted (Lesson I ...

Re: A College Vaulter

This isn't me, but I was wondering what all of you would have to say on this jump: http://www.cortland.edu/athletics/mtrack/zanettipolevault2009.mov The only information I know is that the bar is at 16' 7" I want to use this almost as a model because it is clear, concise, and very slow. Let me...

Re: How long to take off?

Thanks guys! Yea, I ended up taking a little time off (a week) and iced it. Today I tried it out and had a very light vaulting session and it felt much better than it had last week, but I'm still going to take it easy for the next week.

Thanks again for the advice!
