Thank you
Hi All, just to say thank you to D,Johnson for the 6 step mid chart. I started using it last spring when I read about it on pole vault power forum. It has transformed my run up and enabled me to vault a new lifetime best of 4.02m just a few days ago at the age of 46yrs young.

Re: M50 Off Season Training
I do lost of sprinting with and with out a pole. When practicing running with a pole i normally use a longer pole this exaggerates any weaknesses i may have. Lots of sprints over 10 small cones placed close together to force me to get my feet down fast, about 4 shoe lengths between. Put a plant and ...

Re: Training for Speed
At 52 yrs young it is all about maintaining what you have and staying injury free. Flexibility is important so stretch lots, quality not quantity is the key. If you are well conditioned and stretching most sessions, over speed training could help. The slope you run down should not be too steep, no m...

Need a bigger pole now as hand grip will need to be raised!!! Thank's to all who share th...

Re: Semantics and Collapsing the Bottom Arm
I have done one arm vaults before and kept the pole rolling over the box with bends and swung upside down, but surely the bottom arm must have some job to do other than steering the bend. My biggest problem was collapsing the bottom arm on poles that I should of been capable of pressing out. If slid...

Re: Pole Transition
Yes sorry forgot that bit about moving same hand grip across then move up small amounts. That is why going greater poundage first ,then move across at the same hand grip to new longer pole. The other way would be to use a raised runway to get used to the way the pole feels but when you do away with ...

Re: The Joggadin Effect
Using to much bottom arm and not rotating pole with top arm results in a stall out and flip. At least you are strong enough with the bottom arm but once the pole hits the back of the box or bed it will straighten up fliping you over if you keep the arm locked. Apply equal pressure on both arms keep ...

Re: Pole Transition
You need to vault with 12ft 130Lbs pole then 12ft 135Lbs or 13ft 120Lbs, then move to 13ft 130Lbs onto 13ft 135Lbs all holding at the top of pole. The difference in pole size is too great a step for you, changing poles should only happen when the old pole is soft and stops giving something back. Try...
