Re: Regionals Pole vault and high jump gets the shaft!
How come college national aren't like the world champion ships, and the Olympics. Why not have a qualification round and then two days later, have finals. This will get us jumpers prepared for competition after college. As for stoppage after 12, that would just get me fired up to jump in finals, i d...

Re: New practice video with my new camera
You should never have a straight bottom arm at take-off. These are some pretty strong words. try saying this to the french lol. 2012 - I respect your commitment and enthusiasm but suggest that you consider the possibility that you may be wrong – as you reflect on this notion you might remember that...

Re: New practice video with my new camera
i like the left arm. still a little blocky but better. wrapped the pole better on the last jump. hold that left arm straighter just a little longer to give you more time to rock back and not have to catch up to the pole. your last steps are long quicken them up and that will get u back outside. impr...

Re: 5.05 bungee from a 4 step
scott, your shoulders were better today little by little they will get there, however, i think if you kept your left arm straight for an instant longer it would give you just a little bit more time to help drop your shoulders better. Other than that the higher grip as tom said helped you out. i see ...

Re: Training ideas.
if your shins bug you and you still need a work out, try doing some tuck jumps and single leg jumps on the pole vault pit. sets of 10. it can be a killer work out, and easy on the shins.

Re: Should college vaulters be required to wear helmets?
Helmets should be worn by choice of the vaulter. i don't feel like an object rated for a 4 foot fall is going to help much coming from a 17ft+ fall. also i feel like wearing helmets will create a false sense of confidence. wearing this helmet will make me a safe jumper type of thing. there are freak...

Re: Bubka's coach(es)
i did some research on bubkas second coach i didn't see any name but this is what sergey bubka said in his speech "It is important to plan every detail carefully, and to work together as a team. My results are due not only to my character and preparation but to the contribution of my first coac...

Re: Advanced Level Technique Metaphor
bubka had one coach since he was ten, how many athletes have the privilege to have that opportunity. plus to have your one coach be the best coach ever. I'm positive he wasn't the fastest, strongest physically, but mentally he had the confidence and the nuts to pull such a technique off. also he had...

Re: Isinbayeva vows return by 2011
everybody is pushing the two poor performances at the championships. why can't you do better they ask, its because of how negatively a lot of people are thinking of isenbayeva has her second guessing herself. coming from a vaulters perspective, you can not think negatively or second guess yourself a...

Re: Bottom arm discussion continues...
Just a thought, are there any photos/film where there are clear views of the bottom arm, if we start asking the question "...is the musculature clearly engaged?" we can determine vector pressure due to specific muscular engagement. This would not add to debate so much as give insight to w...
