Re: Clubs/Training availability near Tampa

I'm coaching at Tampa Jesuit and the Father there is OK with doing a summer long club/camp. 3 days a week at about 4:30. The facilities are really good for a high school and I'm a 17'3" vaulter. let me know iif you're interested.

B Mon, the florida state vaulter in question who cleared 4.90 is Charlie Cotton, son of the great Mike Cotton who jumped 17'8" in the early 70's. Charlie has been good enough to clear that height for a while and he really chose the right time to do it.

Lacy's jumping awesome this year. She cleared 14'4" on a 14'7" 170 holding at about 13-6-ish. That was the first time she took one up on that pole and the first time this year a pole has stopped for her. She didn't have a great plant and she cut her swing short but she still gapped it by a foot. She...

another point, sliding the pole only works on the perfect runway. If you try to do this at an indoor meet with a raised runway and a kink right at the box, or at a really crappy high school runway with the track beat up at the lip of the box causing it to jut out, your screwed. You can't do a sand v...

"The field events have taken the scholarship hit. The Seminoles don't typically invest much in the pole vault and javelin because those athletes usually aren't versatile" I get money for books and 4% tuition from track. The rest I get from Bright Futures and not to mention Florida Prepaid which my p...

Yeah Scott, Thanks for letting us use your 16' 155 new spirit for that because it was a blast. THE REAL RIVER VAULT 1. find a spot where the water is deep enough to land in 2. get a pole long enough to stick in the San Marcos river bed and still have enough room to jump and grab near the top. 3. wit...

So, I'm a vaulter from the state of Florida and I wen't to the San Marcos River Vault, (yes, that's a long ride-16 hours one way with Scott Crews) and I saw this older guy jumping with us and he had to be in his 50's. I was like there is no way this guy's gonna be able to run, much less put up a pla...
