MERRIMACK - One of the four teens injured Monday afternoon in an accident on Interstate 93 has died.
Laura Wolf, 17, was pronounced dead at 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday, a spokesperson for Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon confirmed Wednesday afternoon.
One of Wolf’s Merrimack High School classmates remains in serious condition in a Boston hospital. Another is recovering at Dartmouth-Hitchcock, and the fourth was treated and released from a hospital following the crash in Sanbornton.
The accident occurred just north of Exit 22 when the driver apparently fell asleep at the wheel, state police said Wednesday. The teens, all high school seniors, were returning to Merrimack after a day spent snowboarding in the White Mountains.
The high school student body and community at large is reeling from news of the crash, which several people who knew the students described as a tragedy that befell a group of undeserving good kids, athletes and school leaders.
