I have been helping a lot of young kids in the pole vault, I just had a 2nd grader start a couple of weeks ago, his second vault session he jumped 6', his last jump session, he made 6'3"...just wondering if there are any other 2nd graders out there jumping...also, he is 4'1" tall, weighs 54lbs and is holding about 7'2" after his hands slips 3-4"!!
Just wondering

I had a 6 year old girl jump a few times a couple summers ago. She was 3'6" and on her best jumps she made it to the top of the pit.

that's pretty good for a 2nd grader. i don't know of any one
around here ever starting before high school...maybe 8th
grade. i wish i was able to start earlier. i know my coach
from a camp i went to had a 7th grade girl clearing like 8'6''

it was a special catapole that is only 8-3 long, doesn't have a weight rating, but he isn't bending it...actually he saw me jump last night, and said that he wanted to bend his pole!!
I have a 5th grade girl that cleared 8-4 in a meet last week
and another girl that jumped 9-9 with a week of vaulting...actually cleared 9' to qualify for state on her 3rd day.

You must be doing something right! Keep up the good work and we might be seeing records broken in about 10 years!!!

I am no coach, I am just a pole vaulter with some extra time on my hands, and I like to help young kids have opportunities and some fun...if anyone has ever been to an Earl Bell Camp and had me on there pit they know how much fun pole vaulting can be...
