I haven't seen official results yet or anything, but I hear Britany Parker jumped 14-0.50 at Central High School in Keller, TX today. Outdoors.
Update: I just got an update... I guess they measured wrong at the lower heights and a ton of people were PRing and the bar ended up actually being at 13-3?
Hopefully I will get a full story from somebody who was actually at the meet.
13-3 is still a great outdoor season opener!

Congrats to Britany! That's a National Outdoor Record isn't it?

Updated. See the first post.
14-0.50 would be an outdoor national record, though I think since the indoor record is higher, any heights outdoors below 14-2 won't get the recognition they deserve in the record books.

The measurement was not done directly before or after my jump. When my coach requested a measurement from the meet officials, the standards had been dropped before he returned and the boys had begun to warm up. The standards were then put back up and the measurement was done. So basically the measurement is not accurate. I felt good, I was jumping well-- thats what i know!

that is still a great jump, it stinks though that they didn't get everything in order the first time

Total screwup by the meet officials, I believe you did jump at or near 14', and as such were "robbed". But you'll do it again soon enough.....

McKinney girl clears 14 feet in pole vault
08:42 PM CST on Saturday, February 18, 2006
By DAVID HINOJOSA / The Dallas Morning News
McKinney senior Britany Parker became the first high school girl in Texas history to clear 14 feet in the pole vault when she recorded a 14-0½ at Thursday's Keller Central Charger Relays.
Parker set the state outdoor record at last year's UIL state meet when she won the 4A title with a 13-3. She cleared 13-4 last month at an indoor meet in Houston.

Maybe they were Gill standards and they went by the marked numbers! Ha!
dunno about others, but the standards at a HS i sometimes jump at are marked 13' for the top but it measures out at 11'10" and yes the surface is completely flat and they're installed correctly...unless you're suppose to install them on top of 1'2" boxes.

Congrats!

That's how we do it in Texas. Set the bar up high. Way to go Miss Parker. I guess you need to go out and do it again now...just make sure they don't drop the standards this next time.
Good Luck!

The girls do anyway. When are some boys gonna step up?
