thats a cool site. I think she could have that bar is she moved her standards a little closer and held the drive a little longer before swinging, just to get her into the pit easier.

Not the best pop-up I have ever seen but it is a good drill.

her names allIson stokke... it doesnt change anything but yah! besides that..her jump is overall done really well...just a stronger top half of the vault...if anyone saw her at mt. sac..she was about a foot and a half over 12'1, if not more, she just had to get her head more in the game..and now that state is here, its the perfect time to prove it!

I believe it's the middle of her vault that needs work. If the middle her vault had good timing, the top would come. I believe her swing is too late. See the photo
When her top hand, shoulders, hips and trail leg foot line up that line is too far past the line of the box or her base of support on the pole. According to Vatali Petrov that line should be at a 45 degree angle and pointed at the box. She photo of Bubka
You can read more about this timing in "How to Get Past Vertical" at

if you look at a lot of her other vaults, the timing seems better....this vault inparticularly is not her best vault..or she would have made it...I think she is going to have a good shot at doing well at state..she has more hiegth clearance over bars than any girl...no one even comes close...and with the things you said...as long as she gets her timing right..she will have a really on day at state...good luck!

It looks like she's a little bit under and that's causing her not to move the pole to vertical. She has good height, but she didn't get enough penetration. From everything I've read about her she did awesome this season especially for being out for so long.

ok i have a question unrelated to timing, but it is very evident with the 2 pictures so i wonder if you can clear it up for me. I always lock out my bottom arm, and i know i should be getting it over my head. But notice Bubka is able to keep his bottom arm straight AND over his head, while Allison gives considerable bend in her elbow, is this just related to the length of the pole?? Because in pictures of me jumping, using 14' poles i have slight bend in the elbow once i start swinging (see avatar). But then i try to do drills with a swing, on 12 foot poles holding at 11, and i cant do it right, because im trying to push with my bottom arm and the pole doesnt want to bend that much when its over my head. But when i release that pressure i dont get any bend out of the pole. SO now that you have backround, my question is this. How much pressure should i be able to push UPWARD once my hands are above my head? Should i bend my eblow considerably? And is it more important to get my hands over my head than to be putting pressure with my bottom arm? thanks a lot!
