THE ELUSIVE BAR 2nd Edition By Bruce Caldwell
Bruce Caldwell and ESSX Supports POLE VAULT POWER.COM as a great tool for the pole vaulting community to learn and jump higher.
Let’s show our appreciation to Becca and ask someone to join the POLE VAULT POWER site today!!!

OK IT IS NOW FREE Thanks to PV POWER
Over 30 important pages will be available to reprint as you wish. Photos and sequences of Steve Smith, Jan Johnson, Casy Carrigan, Earl Bell, Dave Roberts, Roland Carter, GOLD, SILVER, BRONZE JUMPS 1972 Olympic trials and etc
This book is over 34 years old and still has info that can help you vault higher today!
Including the way to bend the vaulting pole with the swing, which today simularly is called the free take-off.
I think many can use the info I wrote in 1972 today It is still worth reading and now can be understood better by the vaulting community. I guess in 1972 it was ahead of its time and only a select few World Class Vaulter recognized it Steve Smith, Dave Roberts, Earl Bell, Billy Olson, Joe Dial just to name a few..

Thanks Bruce!
I lost the Missouri 1A state championship in 1975 to a kid who extolled the virtues of your book. I've been wanting to read it ever since!

It was Mark Sheridan of Princeton, Missouri. Remember, this was small schools, and we were vaulting in the 12' 3" range.

Now that I have had the chance to read the book, I think I could have stopped some bad habits 30 years earlier if I had gotten my hands on the Elusive Bar. Besides running in mud, landing on 12' square landing pits, and not having much pole selection, lack of learning resources made it Marlborough Country back then!

A name you might be more likely to recognise is Ken Schuler from Blue Springs class of 1977. I went to college with him at NWMSU, and he was all into FiberSport and taking off out.

He was coached by Jim Johnson a vaulter from Ray south I coached Jim in HS and he went to OU and went on to one year winning the Big 8 Indoor. I think Jim is now the principal at blue springs?
