Part 2 of our PreviewPalooza brings us the NCAA Division II Indoor
Championships once again taking place just down the pike from me in
Roxbury, Massachusetts at the wonderful Reggie Lewis Track. I've
spent more than enough time in there this winter as most of our high
school meets took place there not to mention the Boston Indoor Games
and the USATF indoor champs. One word of warning for all those who
will be sitting inthe stands - BRING PILLOWS! The stands are some of
the most PAINFUL ones I have ever sat on. I'm not the only one who
has whined about this either. You sit on those benches all day and
the next morning you'll be in serious pain...

Great facility. Awesome track. Horrible seats.

Ah well. Enough crying and no I don't need any cheese with my whine...

This year it looks as if I'm not gonna be able to see the action as
I'll probably be following our long jumper Kara Dickman down to NYC
for the National Scholastic Meet. Ah well - that breaks my 3 year
streak.

ANyway Friday afternoon we have the men's final at 5:15 pm and the
next day the women get their chance to shine at 1:15 pm

Nobody came close to making the automatic qualifier of 3.97m 13'00.25"
but 30 made the provisional of 3.36m 11'00.25". Out of those 30 they
took 12 making the cut at 3.53m 11'07.00" up a few centimeters from
last year.

The field includes repeaters Katie Eckley (3rd indoor, 3rd outdoor
in 2002), Kimberly Hilton (4th in), Marci Miller (4th in, 16th out),
Allyson Studer (7th out), Jamie Davis (11th in), Shelley Borchert
(8th in), Jenny Simmons (9th in, 14th out) and Jessica Roehrick
(11th out). Got some new faces but suprisingly no freshmen and only
2 seniors. Weird...

Amanda's had asuper season topping the 12' mark 3 times and scaring
it about a half dozen more. 6 wins to her credit as well. She barely
beat the Abilene girls for the #1 seed. Not bad for someone who didn't
even make the field last year. Can she jump away from the Minnesota/
South Dakota region?

ago over other entrants Amanda Frame (#1 seed), Jamie Davis (#9),
Marci Miller (#10), Shelley Borchert (#11) & Kimberly Hilton (#12)
who at the time were all ranked ahead of her on the DII list.
Jessica settles in here at #7 within striking distance of the
leaders. She'll need to launch another bomb this Saturday...

3 fellas punches their ticket early by nailing the automatic qualifier
of 5.10m 16'08.75". The others had to sweat out the brutal Division
II selection process having only gotten the provisional mark of 4.70m
15'05.00". Once again only 12 made the cut and they all had to make at
least 16' to get in (4.90m 16'00.75" was the cutoff) up almost 3
inches from last year.

Several foks are making a repeat trip to the big dance including last
year's indoor and outdoor champ from Lewis, Duane Chappel, Seth
Isringhausen (2nd indoor, 5th outdoor in 2002), Mark Zilch (5th in,
8th out), Andrew Petersen (7th in), J.R. Skola (11th out), Tony
Milhon (13th out), Nick Wilpula (NH in), Chad Burks (NH out) and Sam
Pribyl (NH out)
