ummm... come on guys, we only have eight guys that have qualified in our region. That means that over half of the competition will have a ticket to nationals if they just clear a bar at the regional meet.

vautling in the Big Ten has been down in the past couple years, so that's contributing ALOT. 5.20m is winning the conference when it used to take 4th or 5th. Back in my day, there were always 1 or 2 guys that were 18'+. I think the problem with the Big Ten is that its not recruiting well in the midwest. All the quality HS vaulters are going somewhere else. FOr example, here's where the Indiana State Champions have gone the last few years:
2004 James Martzall - Louisville
2003 Ryan Schipper - Rose Hulman
2002 Ray Scotten - Southern Illinois, Nebraska
2001, 2000, 1999 Matt Campbell - Missourri Southern
Paul Gensic - Air Force (not the champ, but jumped 16' 9")
1997, 1998 Jo'L Gerardot - Florida
1995, 1996 Kieth Kline - Kentucky
1994 Jeremy Ashcraft (ME) - Purdue
Not a single Big Ten school until you get to me 11 years ago......

I may not be an Indiana boy, but i'm hoping to see the big ten's back up there in a few years.

Just keeps gettin better. We have ten guys now on the list. Could be a cozy little pole vault competition. Real intimate.

If everything goes right tomorrow (May 7th) I should be able to go to regions. Then that would make eleven.

I think he is suggesting that is sad compared to other regions. I just believe it is unfair looking at 25+ guys competing, versus 10...look at the percentages.
