I wanted to introduce myself to everybody on Pole Vault Power. My name is Brad Seberhagen, and I'm the new pole vault coach at Santa Ana College, located in the greater Los Angeles area.

This is my first year with an official coaching position, so I'd love it if anybody had any advice for me, especially regarding recruiting.

I grew up in Chicago, Pole Vaulted 14-6 at Maine South High School...walked on to Purdue University's team...transferred to Mount SAC, then finally ended up at Cal State Fullerton where I've jumped 4m80.

I'm really looking forward to this new job...and I need athletes...so if any of guys know anybody Junior College bound in the area...refer them to me because I'd love to share my knowledge and passion for the sport with as many people possible!

Welcome to the Board! While I am on the East Coach, I am an assistant track/ xc coach and pole vault coach at a small school in upstate NY. I also work for our admissions office as a counselor and would be happy to help and talk about the admission cycle for both athletics and academics. Send me an email and I'd be happy to give you some ideas and help answer any questions. The process can be somewhat confusing at first, but it doesn't have to be.

welcome--its funny that you say that you are from Maine South--my roommate is from Maine South and used to pole vault there--he concentrates on running now, but I think its cool either way :)

Yeah...I know who you're talking about

Yeah...I know who you're talking about. Your roomate is probably Tony Marcinek. I had the record at Maine South (14-6), and he wound up taking it two years later with a leap of 15-3 inches. He's not jumping now because he's an even better 400 meter runner (the same school as Andrew Rock, gold medalist). Tell him I said hi!
