09/14/2005
TROY, Ala.- Troy University Director of Track & Field Bob Lambert has announced the hiring of Jill Lancaster as head women's track & field coach.
Lancaster comes to Troy after being the co-head track and field coach at the University of Oklahoma. Lancaster had been at Oklahoma since 1997 where she was the horizontal and combined events coach. Lancaster was also the NCAA initial and continuing eligibility coordinator while at Oklahoma.
"Jill has an extensive background both as a national caliber athlete and Division I coach, having shouldered the full head coaching responsibilities at Oklahoma and Toledo," Lambert said. "She will provide our program with the leadership, expertise and enthusiasm that will help us continue moving to the highest level in collegiate track and field."
While at Oklahoma, Lancaster coached the NCAA Oklahoma Woman of the Year in 2001, hosted the Big Twelve and NCAA Mid-West Regional Championships, and hosted the Sooner Winter and Spring Track and Field camp.
Lancaster has also been the assistant track and field coach at Kansas State University before going to Oklahoma and was the head track and field coach at the University of Toledo for six years before that.
