John Russell from Akron opened the season with a jump of 5.51 (18'1"). He smoked it and my boy looked great. This is a new Mid American Conference record and if I am not mistaken is the best jump in the nation so far this year. Congrats Johnny! I hope to get some video up of it soon.

I think that will tie him for a world indoor lead... I am guessing for less than 24 hours though as a bunch of the elite men open their season tonight.

That jump is number #2 all-time by an ohio collegian
and
We think it also moves John into #2 best Ohioan jumper, the 1st is Tim Mack
...however he is still the #2 pole vaulter from Princeton High, not 2nd to me, but 2nd to the great Ken Meibers...lol
