Don't vault alone

After spending much of the late 80's jumping alone and accumulating some really bad habits (like "looking around" to make sure I was going to make the pit before making my move and jamming the bottom arm too long) I can vouch that vaulting alone is a really bad idea:

YOU have to have someone catch your pole.

I have seen far to many poles not being caught even in competitions.
The poles must be caught to insure its integrity and to provide confidence that the pole will not break on subsequent jumps.

Beside it is easier to put the crossbar bar up with two people!!! :D

The vaulter that, the story is talking about is one tough S.O.B. He is a great guy!!!
