Liberty High Athletic Director and head track coach John Ambrose was glad that the event attracted such a large turnout – a good way to start the 2008 track and field season.
The meet was named for Keith Dawson, a track coach and mentor at Liberty since 1958. Dawson began coaching in the San Joaquin Valley (Tracy and Oakdale) in 1951 and came to Brentwood seven years later. The vault meet saw Yessy Marinez of Liberty take first place with a vault of 7 feet in the Frosh/Soph Girls bracket. Second place went to Laura Fong of Las Lomas, who vaulted to 6’-6â€
