Briefly ...

McKinney junior pole vaulter Britany Parker went higher than any Texas high school girl ever has when she cleared 13-2 at the Theo Rigsby Relays on Saturday. The previous best vault in the state was the 13-1 ½ by Britni Lawrence of Buda Hays Consolidated last year. Parker's previous best was 12-5 ½. The girls' pole vault was added to the UIL State Track and Field Championships in 2002.
