What's with the Sports Writer's?

Unread postby Beam » Mon Jul 12, 2004 2:56 pm

Lot of negetive press. . . what a bunch of buttholes. . . I even saw that the leading news coverage in the mainstream media is a fight at NASCAR, Shaq and Jordan, and finally "Bonds to start in all-star lineup."
One of the most exciting pole vault competitions went down on Sunday and just a list of results is all that the media could muster up. . . OR give all the dramatic bad news of Hartwig this, Hartwig that. Let's write some things on Tim Mack's winning jump, Toby's energy, and Derek's near perfect competition (didn't miss a bar till he went out). Not to mention that Keenan King was jumping 15'6" about a year ago and is now in the pole vault finals of the trials! And not only that, but Ryland (who did get a nice article at home) was a decathelete prior to focusing on the vault. Track and Field News can't even cover the event right. Lawrence didn't make it to the final's and nothing was mentioned, Nick jumped higher (if my memory is right) than he did to make the team in 99' and still placed 5th. Tye, God love him, isn't going this year even though he jumped 5.80m! HOLY LORD! Jim Davis is the man! Clutch 3rd attempt jump at 5.75 gives me goose bumps just thinking of what was going through his mind. And he was listed as "Unattatched" by the way. . . somebody send him some food and money. And what's up with Addidas, Reebok, and Ascics. . . can't they afford to give a couple other jumpers some free gear and a little bit of money to train for the next four years? And I don't want to be too biased, so the other events in TandF need props too. Each even needs a decent possitive write up if they have the same quality that the men's pole vault has right now. Canada's nationals was won with 5.10. Perhaps half our team should defect to learn French and compete for Canada. I'll sport a maple leaf and wear a hockey helmet like Toby just to give more guys a chance at going to the games. Any of you young kids that read this need to study hard and become sports writers. Good luck, Beam

There were lots of great articles written. I'm posting them as a see there here: http://www.polevaultpower.com/forum/vie ... php?t=3036

There were articles today on Mack, Toby, Walker, Miles, Ryland, and even a good article on Jim Davis!

Heck we probably won't get this good of media coverage for another 4 years :crying:

I'm not sure if I should cry too, but you called it "good" media coverage. I was trying to show how mainstream coverage is half-arse coverage in the TandF world. More time by sports writers will be spent on Tim and Marion than on the people who will actually will be representing the team.
