Found this while trying to find the Ostrava meet yesterday. Couldn't watch the meet b/c they wanted money for it .... but read the article ..... Interesting how she talks of Suhr....

Stuczynski put in a year toward her masters in school psychology but still needs to do an internship to get her degree. When she told her teachers she was putting that on hold to pursue the pole vault, they told her she was making a big mistake. Now that she's a star on the rise, they send her e-mails saying, "always knew you could do it."

teachers are def. not normally very supportive. when i was a sophmore at VT, one of my professors asked me to see her in office during class. When i went to see her, she told me that i really needed to decide between athletics and engineering. More specifically, she told me that its impossible to succeed in both. Meanwhile, VT has sent 3 "engineers' in th last 2 years to the national championships. I sent her an email saying im glad i had someone like her to prove wrong.. never heard back

haha that's awesome! So pole vaulting + intensive academics in college isn't impossible to do?

nope.. def. not. just be smart with your time, and know when to put which one ahead for the time being and you can get through both.

in fact. Joe Samaniuk who just graduated was taking 15 credits of GRADUATE STUDIES both semesters this year, and still had an outstanding year and got a 4.0 in grad school. now it is true that hes a freak. but its def. doable
