World champions Bernard Lagat and Brad Walker are included in a strong USA team for the Norwich Union International in Glasgow on January 26.
Walker, winner this year of both the world indoor and outdoor pole vault titles, is included in the American squad in the match against Great Britain, Germany, Sweden and a Commonwealth Select side.
He will use the meeting at the Kelvin Hall as his season's opener in a year where he is determined it will culminate with another gold medal at the Olympic Games in Beijing.
"This is going to be a massive year for all athletes with the Olympic Games at the end of the summer, and I am no different," said Walker.
"The Norwich Union International provides the ideal opportunity to get the season off to a strong start."
The inclusion of Kenyan-born Lagat, who scored a unique 1500metres and 5000m double at the world outdoor championships in the summer, in the American team comes just 24 hours after the announcement he will race at the Norwich Union Grand Prix in Birmingham on February 16 where this year he set a USA 3000m indoor record.
He is regarded as the best middle-distance runner in the world and will contest the 1500m in Glasgow.
Other big names who will be in action include Britain's Jessica Ennis, who contests the 60m hurdles and the long jump.
