Former Atascadero High and UCLA standout sidelined after injuring wrist while pole vaulting

Olympic hopeful Chelsea Johnson, an Atascadero High and UCLA graduate, has been sidelined for at least another three weeks after injuring her wrist in practice.

Johnson, a favorite to make the U. S. team as a pole vaulter, fractured a small bone in her left wrist April 14 when she broke a pole on a vault at Cuesta College.

[quote]Then why did Jenn just break a pole a couple weeks ago - that is not carbon - Brad has broken one vaulting in Europe a couple years ago - you do not know how old our used - or potential damaged it could have been - I can show you video of a bunch of young vaulters jumping very high without tuck and shoot on carbon poles - If you want to talk realities of material that is fine - but the reality - not opinion - it also depends upon pole length, stiffness, hoop strength - a compilation of many things.
