I think that Bubka was doing a lot more things correct than people want to admit.
Beside those were some of the biggest poles I had ever seen (Telephone Poles)
Which would attribute to the energy he put into them at take off. It has to be a relatively good take-off to transfer that much of the run and plant into the poles.
And as I have stated on here before he was off the pole before the pole struck the back of the box.
Which would signal a technique that had been perfected for his style.
He showed an inverted position better than others too.
Again, an indication that the plant and swing are very effective.
But I will admit that a few of his flaws (very few) were overcome by the tremendous strength and speed.
While some other vaulters will make up the difference from their technique,
Strength and speed seems to overcome any inadequacies if any you might be referring too?

No he wasn't THAT good.
But then again neither was Michael Johnson or Marian Jones.
He is the only person to go over 20 feet! Take some time to watch his jumps, then you'll understand, he is THAT good.

I would beat him!...
All I would have to do is use my shoe as a runway mark.
My shoes could knock a frog off a log 30ft away!

Bubka is the man, plain and simple,
watch his jumps how he gets so inverted it looks likes he is going to dive into the ground then he goes into a str8 up and down handstand on the pole, he is just a freakin master.

I did read it wrong and did not know your intention was sarcasm
But my feathers were not rattled and I do not think others either.
As he has faults that he hides them well with his strength and speed.
There is an American out there who will bring the pole down the runway like him and that person will emerge very soon.
Someone is going to get It soon that strength and speed are most important to blend with technique when they do American will come back.

Who would that be?
I think if everyone reads the article it talks about it being more than just fast strong, with excellent technique. It takes training, psychological aspects, and most important competitve spirit, and determination to be better when your already on top.
