USA Lists
Can any one tell me the last time 5.40m got accepted into the Outdoor US championships in Mens PV? Or anything under 5.50m for that matter. Something is seriously wrong with this. Am I the only one who feels this way? I'm embarrassed for us as a group. Can't even fill a field with a low b-standard. I feel like I'm taking crazy pills.

Re: USA Lists
Its an off year. No major championships. Tommy retired, greeley decided not to come back from europe. Last year there were like 25 guys over 5.50 when they did the single qualifying standards for the mens. It'll come back around next year. Plus i think if all of the 5.40s had declared they wouldn't have accepted them.

Re: USA Lists
Off year is an under statement. There are always off years. When was the last time 5.40 got into outdoors? that's what I'm wondering. And I know someone on this board knows those kind of stats.

There have been several years it took 5.65m to get in. Seems quite weak regardless of the other factors.

Yeah I definitely agree. I was trying to put a little logic to it.

No worries. I like how you explored the positive side. But you have to admit, we're in a bad way here. Worse than I've seen since I've paid attention.

Yeah. Who all is missing this year that was there last year? I feel like the girls side is still solid.

Yeah. Who all is missing this year that was there last year? I feel like the girls side is still solid.
Tommy Skipper (retired)
Paul Litchfield
Toby Stevenson (retired)
Mitch Greeley (in Europe)
Graeme Hoste
Jeff Ryan
Scott Roth (I wonder why he is not entered?)
Bryant Wilson
Paul Gensic
Tim Mack (injured?)
Brian Mondschein (switched nationalities)
But worse than those people missing, not many guys are jumping all that well right now.
Brad hasn't jumped in a meet in almost a year, and I am not sure if he is going to actually jump at USAs. We all know he could win it from a short run, but he's a big question mark. For whatever reason (injured again?) he's not in the Diamond League mix.
Colwick is an exciting vaulter that has had a crappy outdoor season. Same with Scott Roth, who is not even entered, so maybe he is hurt or something.
On the plus side, Derek Miles is solid as always, and we are seeing exciting things from Jeremy Scott, Darren Niedermeyer, and Mark Hollis.
Girls are still solid, just been a slow start for most of the big names. Jenn is just coming back from injury. Chelsea hasn't done much outdoors yet. Lacy jumped great indoors and has been solid indoors, yet always gets overlooked for EVERYTHING. Erica is competing in Europe instead of USAs. April hasn't really done much this year yet. Jillian left for Team Israel. Melinda is jumping great and Becky was off to a slow start outdoors but popped a 4.50 in Chula Vista. Kylie Hutson is a big talent coming out of the college ranks, and I am excited to see what the future holds for Katie Viuf, she has only been vaulting a short time.
