Toby: ‘Proud of where I’m from’

Olympic silver medalist Toby Stevenson drew a standing ovation as he gave a brief thank you to Odessans as the Chamber’s second guest speaker at Thursday’s banquet.
Stevenson, a 1995 Permian High School graduate, told the crowd that he was proud to represent his country and the Permian Basin at the summer games.
Stevenson displayed the silver medal he won in the men’s pole vault at the Athens Olympics in August.
“When I was there, I had a jersey with a big American flag across the chest,â€Â

Olympic medalist and Odessa native Toby Stevenson will be recognized at a Friday luncheon in his honor at the MCM Grande Fundome, 6201 E. Highway 80.
Odessa Chamber of Commerce President Mike George said Stevenson will be presented with a key to the city, a proclamation from Mayor Larry Melton “and other accoladesâ€Â
