1. Walker 5.90
2. Stevenson 5.90
3. Miles 5.80
Markov and Crazy Chinese Guy on a 150 foot run 5.70
Mack, Hysong 5.60
Pauli, Buciarski NH.

Great freakin comp. Walker looked heads and shoulders above the rest. Boomed 5.80 huge. Clean at 5.90. Good looks at 6.04 but needs something more before he's ready.

Toby looked good. Made first three bars through 5.70 no prob. At 5.80 after Walker's first attempt clearance winds turned into the face of Toby, Derek, and Crazy Chinese Guy (CCG). This wind stayed in thier face for their first two attempts at the height. Nobody turned one up. Come third attempts the wind switched and both Toby and Derek took advantage and nailed it. Toby then went to a third attempt at 5.90 after Walker's second attempt make and got a great deal of bar love on his make. Toby's skills over the bar are an art. Toby passed to 6.04 with Walker and had a HUGE pole break on his first attempt. His left hand looked a little banged up and he did a visual check of his jewels then gave the crowd a tumbs up. He then dropped down a pole and turned up all 3 jumps but you could tell he needed a bigger pole. But coming back and turning up three attempts at an AR after a break like that takes big balls, which luckily, were alright.

Miles, like Toby stepped up big on his third attmept at 5.80 when the winds turned in their favor. Derek boomed every bar up to that with consistency. Just looked like he hit a wall at 5.90 though. But a great competition for him none the less.

CCG was running from off our runway which is over 150 feet long. He jumped with his standards at 40 all day. This guy went STRAIGHT UP. He put big height on 5.70 and prior bars. Has the potenitial to be a big factor in 08 on his home turf.

Markov took out from a mile out all day as usual and had big height. Just couldn't manage 5.70 (or maybe it was 5.80).

Mack seemed to be having some takeoff troubles. Looked like he was just sinking big, but then again thats how he usually jumps. He just wasn't finishing jumps. Went to a thrid at 5.50 before he turned one up. Probably just a rough day for the oly champ.

Overall it was and incredible meet. 13.04 110 HH by Xiu, the Athens Champ from China. Two guys ran 9.84 in the 100. Webb broke the AR in the 2 Mile and blazed a killer 3K time along the way. Arguably the best Pre Classic ever. The meet reaffirmed itself as the best annual meet in the world outside of Europe.

Crazy Chinese Guy is only 20 years old. China didn't send him overseas for a holiday. They must think they've got something here. I agree, watch out for him in '08.

DAMN! I wish I were there. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe that this is a huge PR for Brad. Wasn't his previous best 5.83m? Anyway, congrats to Brad on a huge jump!

Funny cause Lui Xang (or however u spell it) is the national spokemen for a huge chinesse tabacoo company...oh the irony. I would love to see him run with Allen Johnson, but no he keeps crashin into hurdles and false starting . I find it funny the best hurdlers are a chinese guy and a a dominican (ok, he's from new york, but he runs for D.R.) and the best 400 runner is white.

Anyone happen to know what Brad's next meet is? I just got an email saying that he is coming up for the Victoria International on Friday, but somehow I just don't quite believe it. He isn't on the start list, so... who knows? Anyone? Bueller?

Is there prize money? Last year he jumped at Seattle International the day after Pre (from a short run) to try and earn a little money. He got beat by Pat Manson ;)

Not much prize money at this one, especially compared to a meet like the Prefontaine. But maybe he and Carly are planning to go together. She's signed up for the Harry Jerome next week.
