December 31, 2005 -- American Women's Pole Vault Record Attemped

Jenn Stuczynski attemped Stacy Dragila's US pole vault record today indoors after clearing 4.58m(15'0") clean at the USATF Rochester Indoor Holiday Classic. Suczynski and Suhr elected to go to the American record due to a good week of practice, where Stuczynski cleared 4.70m several times earlier this week. This vault ranks Jenn number one in the US. Last year no American woman cleared 15'0" indoors. Stuczysnki only attempted the American Record one time in a close attempt, then stopped jumping. Meet photos to follow.

Jen's other meets this year:

December 17, 2005 -- Stuczynski Jumps at RWB Open

Jennifer Stuczynski vaulted at Paul Babits new vault facility today for the RWB Open in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Clearing her opening height of 4.27m (14'0"), Stuczynski raised the bar to 4.45m (14'7.25") clearing with room to spare. This height increases Stuczynski's lead in the US vault this indoor season.

December 10, 2005 -- Results York Christmas Open

U.S. Indoor National Champion Jenn Stuczynski posted an early mark at the York Christmas Open in Toronto Canada easily clearing 4.41m (14' 5.75"). Though a good early performance for the season, Stuczynski is still far from her potential with some big jumps ahead of her.

How long a pole do you think she is using? Has to be at least 15' by the look of the picture.

Jen Stuczynski, representing Suhr Sports, will compete in the women's pole vault beginning at 9:30 am. The current U.S. record is 4.81 meters (15-9 1/4) and is held by Olympian Stacy Dragila. Stuczynski formerly competed for Roberts Wesleyan College in Rochester, N.Y.

I will be at Dartmouth Sunday watching my daughter vault and I will recap Jen's attempts. I will shoot video but there will be better footage available than mine. I live about an hour away from Hanover, so I will be able to get some early remarks on line. It will be odd to see the competition nearly over before Jen even opens. Saw Mary Saxer set the HS record last year same venue. I wanted to see how Rick warms up his vaulters and I have to say there was nothing out of the ordinary in warmups. Potential there for an exciting day this weekend.[/b]

I talked to Rick and Jen yesterday and they weren't sure if they were still going to Dartmouth. It's a 7 hour drive from where they live, and Jen still has quite a few big meets on her schedule.

Weather predictions for the Northeast over the weekend are somewhat dicey. Not a surprise if they skip this one. Thanks for the heads up.
