Festival to include pole vaulting competition
Shrewsbury - Grab those old running shoes and head over to Oak Middle School baseball field Sunday Sept. 28 as part of the town's Spirit of Shrewsbury Fall Festival. Patriot Pole Vault Club invites pole vaulters, spectators and track enthusiasts to this unique competition. Held on an elevated runway, vaulters of all abilities will try for a personal best, clearing heights from 5 to 14 feet. All competitors must have a current USA Track and Field membership.
Register the day of the event or through http://www.patriotpv.com. Warm-ups start at noon, and the competition starts at 1 p.m. The fee is $15 for a non-club member and $10 for club athletes.
While this event is not for new vaulters, spectators are welcome to attend and learn the basics by talking to a coach or club mentor while donating their used sneakers for recycling through Nike's Reuse-A-Shoe Program.
