Starting a revolution in New England...

The New England Pole Vault club was formed in 2004 to create vaulting opportunities throughout the year for New England vaulters and to provide proper instruction from the area's top coaches.

Based out of Boston, MA, the club is run by Brad Bowery of MIT and Brenner Abbott of Northeastern. Today all club activities take place at MIT in Cambridge, MA, but our goal is to spread across New England to other facilities and bring in other coaches who can work with athletes who are interested in learning to pole vault safe and effectively.

This summer we will be hosting two 4-week sessions of practices. Each week will include two vault days and a third day for drills. Practice times are from 6-8pm and fall between Mondays and Thursdays, leaving time for the Patriot Pole Vault Club's Summer Vaultaramas. The first session begins July 11 and the second session ends on September 1 - just in time for the York, ME Beach Vault hosted by the IPVC!

All vaulters must be USATF-NE members http://wwwusatfne.org, and members of the New England Pole Vault club. You can remain a member of any other USATF-NE club, and continue to compete for that club. For more information check us out at http://www.nepolevault.com or email us at nepolevault@yahoo.com.

Thanks for starting this just when I leave the area...

I hope this explodes and New England will turn into the next Oklahoma, Texas and California in the caliber of high school vaulters.

Thanks for the encouragement

Sorry to hear you are leaving! Too bad we couldn't get it started sooner, but it took a while to bring it all together. But yeah, you've got the idea, it's about time we started to develop high school vaulters like they do down south and out west!

If there were any good vault coaches willing to take on a facility and coach from there, it would require interest from at least 10-15 vaulters. While we don't question that the latter exists, it may take a while to find a coach, and a facility willing to do it. We would do our best to help out if there were any ideas for this.

You'll find that few places are as pole vault friendly as MIT or Westborough High School. For now, you would just have to come east to Worcester or Boston for help with your vaulting.

Let us know if you would be interested in joining us at MIT this summer.

Traveling to MIT wouldn't be that bad... just gas is an issue but it would be good... Are you going to the Bay State Games at MIT? If so, maybe we could catch up and you could give me some more info. Thanks.

Brenner and I may be at Bay States, but if not talk to the MIT vaulter Nate Ball about it. You can't miss him, he'll be the guy jumping pretty high with a helmet on.

We'd love to have you, it would definitely be worth it.

Yeah I'll be there too with about 10 Patriot Pole Vaulters. While we'd love to have you as a Patriot you really can't go wrong with Brad 'n' Brenner. They do know their stuff :-) Feel free to come talk to me during the meet - I'll be wearing the goofy straw hat...

We've reworked the site a little to make it more functional for users. Just a start, but more on the way!
