Chris Swader of Cape Girardeau Centrals Jr. High School vaulted 12' at the Jackson JR. HS Invitational on Saturday, May 6th at Jackson, MO.
The 8th grader set a new CGCJHS 8th grade record of 11'1" a couple of weeks earlier and had since vaulted 11'3" and 11'6". The Jackson Jr. high Inv. had been postponed from a week earlier because of inclement weather. At the meet, Swaders coach told him to skip 11'9" and go for 12' since he was doing so well. Subsequent attempts at 12'3" failed, but Swader had broken his own record and set a new meet record in the process.
