DO YOU FIND YOU BLOW THROUGH EVER POLE YOU HAVE?
IT may be you are under at the take off. It may seem the solution is to raise the grip and move to the next stiffness pole!
Try just the opposite!
Move the take-off out and move your grip down on the pole.
Getting sucked under on the pole is the best way to bend poles and go no where!

Moving the step out gives you the opportunity to bend the pole with the swing and not with the take off!
This is a much more efficient way to bend poles and the pole lifts you when you perform an proper plant!

You may be able to jump higher with a slightly lower grip and on poles you use to blow through!
The step has to be directly down from your grip and out about 3" in order to get the bets energy conversion!
This take-off position is much easier on the shoulders and back!

hey

Great advice Bruce...

... but also try to get your step OUT.. by "getting the feet down" rather than moving back evey time you are out...

stopping the "stretch" is the absolute way to bend and use the pole correctly...

your vaulting will change so much by doing this and you will jump a PR on poles that you though were way to "soft".

DJ you are right on the mark with this one. We moved a girl back 6" and she jumped over 10" her previous pr was 9'.
She has the ability to jump 12' once she realizes the truth to this.
I find older vaulters who had success in their past jumping under coach vaulters that way today!

Question. So if i am using a 13'9 150 pole. I weigh 130. And my takeoff is about 10'-10'6 and i get it back to around 10'9-11' will i still be able to use this pole? The coach i went to said i was blowing through my old pole which was a 13'3 155. My step was under with it as well and he said that i would just blow through even more if my take off were on. So by this im guessing that when you achieve a free take off you are more likely to blow through than when you are under?
