AGE - concerns and advice

Hello my Name is Jaime Nicolás Bernal.. I am from Bogotá - Colombia

I have been practicing track & field since I was 15. Sprints.. 400 meters.

Now I am 22 years old, I am going to graduate from industrial design in October. I am kind of sad because I will not be able to practice running any more, because as I am going out from the university I will stop having the services.

I was wondering if I could change of sport.. I have always admired Pole vault. But people say it may be too late for me to start on this.. there is actually a public track and tainners here in Bogotá... (I used to have problems with the district sprint trainners for personal reasons. So the option of going back to sprints it is not considered)

I dont want to loose my sport habit. So I ask you.. anyone.. that could tell me if it is possible.. or if there is anyone who began as late as me..

Also (planning to go to France next year.. for further studies) ..

thank you in advance for any good response..

gracias.

Athletes begin the pole vault at all ages, there are athletes age 60+ who have tried it for the first time!

If you can find a coach, then you should try it and see if you like it. Pole vault is very fun.

Look up Jen Suhr (the Olympic gold medalist), and see how old she was when she started. (to give you a hint she played basketball in college, never pole vaulted until after college)
