i'm going to be a freshman this year and i plan on pole vaulting. i really want to do good with this and make it my new sport, something instead of baseball. i was hoping if everyone here had something that i need to know. please give me some tips, hints, lingo. anything so i dont humiliate myself come first track practice

I've been jumping for a few months now.. this spring was my first track season... all i can say is have a freakin great time while you're doing it and don't get down on yourself... this sport takes time to get technique down and you cant expect instant success... learn from other more experienced jumpers... its friendly competition and other vaulters are always looking to help out...
