Great day at the pit
I like days like today when all my vaulters improved today and we finally got everyone settled on a pole for now.

I agree and disagree... I think it isn't EASY to PR at all, but if one is "easier" it is definitely your short run. On a short run you have less time to think on the runway and less time to screw up your run... You can hit "bigger" poles on any run you do... I do agree that the bigger pole you hit, the higher potential you have to jump, but that doesnt necessarily mean you will jump higher... In a short run you have less time to think about what you are doing and your muscles go automatic into what they are trained to do. Plus, on short runs you can correct many mechanical errors that are hard to correct on long runs...
4.75... Write THAT down...

Yesterday was a good day for my guys team. They had some great jumps, pull and turns, and set some practice PRs (they don't mean anything unless they are done at meets, but still a huge confidence builder).
Unfortunately cannot say the same for my girls.
Heights just would not be cleared (really blowing through some poles though due to some great approaches though) cause we could not be consistent with our approaches. Then, when trying a simple three step drill, one girl slipped and really twisted her ankle.
So - due to injury, some great approaches, and some really high vaults we all went out for ice cream.
