preseason they had us lifting 3 days a week, and in season, we were lifting twice a week. Now during the summer, im not lifting at all, im focusing on core strength, and doing gymnastics.

We got a new strength coach, but I think that is about the same. Summer stuff is all optional. A lot of my teammates are back in Athens, training, or not. Some of us are still competing. I was lifting 2x a week, but after the beach vaults I hope to get the new weight workouts from my strength coach and I bet it is 3x a week.
I want to do gymnastics more, but the club owner at the gym I always do it at has started staying realllly late to make sure none of the rock climbers or coaches are using the gym equipment

yeah, it takes your muscles about two days to recover, but if you vary your routine doing say arms one day, legs another, back or stomach the next day you should be fine. It's great to see people so motivated.

Well I guess it would be six but I have aroutine where I do something different everyday for three days then rest but sometimes I go four days. I haven't lifetd for the past two weeks though because I've been down at the lake concentrating on my wake boarding skills.

Do you split up your body parts like a body builder?

yea. day 1- chest, day 2- back, day 3- shoulders/triceps, day 4- biceps. i do legs on saturdays, and i workout everday, sometimes i work up to 14 hours at one time so i take those days off
even with running twice a day i gained 30lbs in one track season just by working out 4 days a week. during summer and winter breaks i go everyday though.

Are you guys/girls vaulters or body builders??? When do train to actually vault?? and if you do...........do you spend as much time focusing on your vaulting as your strength??

That is an excellent point PVJunkie
Just like holding higher on a bigger pole when you don't have the fundementals down will not equal a higher vault. Getting bigger and stronger will not equal a higher vault. There is nothing wrong with strength training. It should not becaome your main focus however. Esp IMO at the high school level. Most high schoolers would be better served doing imitative exercises that build body awarness as well as strength-like gymnastics
