I am working with a group of kids and we are now doing high bar training. Besides Kips, drop kips, kip cast free hips, giants, giants w/ PV legs (straight trail leg w/ knee drive), and knee tuck giants are there any other things I could add? We also have access to rings. I have a quick step drill with swing and a inverted twist push/pull drill, but I would love to hear what others are doing. Any suggestions are welcome.

I would suggest that the challenge you face is not to find more high bar exercises but to transfer the training of the work you have already done into the vault.

agreed. I added a kip cast free hip finish with a release to a half twist into the foam pit. I added a ring drill with a three step swing to invert (straight arm/ straigth leg) finish with a hanging half twist. I am currently only coaching beginners (new job) and I am using the high bar and rings to teach muscle memory for the hips, arms and core on the swing. I have found that it helps in keeping them from pulling their arms in after the plant, as well as helps them to keep a straight trail leg.

Go to the link in the second post on this topic. There will be a series of links to videos of exercises and drills on the high bar. Look at those videos and you will know what people are referring to.

high bar is a piece of gymnastic equipment used to help vaulters learn to swing better and body control. If you have a firewall on your computer you probably can't view the videos. google high bar drills and check out images.

any type of cast on undershoot usually you would need uneven bars to perform this but you could also use a high bar and release into a pit. these drills teach you to learn timing and to get your toes up. also cast handstand pirouettes(pretty advanced) can help you get the feeling of being on top of your pole and then turning. giants are good, but again sort of and advanced skill and grips a lot of times are a good idea. however STRAP BAR..one of the best inventions ever can save your hands and is a good tool for tap swings/ giants/etc. and eliminates alot of fear because you cant fall.
