pole vaulting periodization

If anyone could help me, i am coaching a 17 year old youth pole vaulter, i would be gratefull for any advise regarding, physical, technical,tact, psychological values during the preperation, competetive and transitional part of the seasno.

What kinds of activities were they doing before track season?

During pre season she has picked up various different injuries, i was just interested to know if you knew the recomended amount of Physical, technical, psychological and tactical work i should be doiing with the athlete during the preperation phase of the season.

It depends on the training age of the athlete and their physical conditioning. Obviously injuries are going to affect what activities are done. Most states have limits on the amount of contact the school coaches can have with their athletes, so it could vary depending on if you are her club coach or school coach and what state you are in and what kind of facilities you have access to.

There is no one right answer to your question, and you haven't given enough information to give any kind of specific answer.

In a general sense, I would say you should be focusing on getting her healthy and sticking with activities that do not aggravate any of her injuries.

In a general sense with any youth athlete, you want them to be improving their strength and speed with activities that are appropriate for their training age and level of conditioning. Too much too soon can lead to injuries. I think choosing activities the athlete enjoys is also important. The absolute best activities are worthless if the kids hate them and end up quitting!
