At 1:29 can you see Isinbayeva's 2nd attempt at 4.71m.
http://youtu.be/g-XSctrSpkYStill "taking off" under. Not as tight on top, like she used to be. Any video of the 4.81 clearance?

good enough to have a sloppy jump at 4.71+ there is no way to know what part of their training cycle they are in or what their focus is on.
Can't vault in a bubble or sit around till everything is perfect. To many watch their careers go by when they sit around trying to perfect everything and not vault. Vaulting is fun I think more people need to remember that. If Issy is back to having fun jumping not so pretty than bonus to the Track and Field community cause she is still jumping high. When she was overly trying to perfect so many elements she almost quit. If the hips are going high than they must be doing something right. We all can find hundreds of small details wrong with every vault by every person out there. Bigger question is with such off mechanics why can she still grip and jump as high as she can in comparison to someone doing it perfect and jumping 2 feet lower? That's what I'm looking at personally.
Lets find the things they are doing well and mimic them and worry less about the things they are doing wrong cause its obvious some of those things don't matter as much as some think. Just a thought!

Ok, poor sprint mechanics compared to every other time I have seen her jump in person or on video during the last 9 years.

Fantastic post. Spot on - there comes a time when you must just do it - warts and all!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KY2XMTETd8oI'll say it again every high school boy can learn from watching her jump. Looks like they cleaned a few small issues up.
