18:47 : Good afternoon everybody and welcome to the Stade Louis II in Monaco for the 3rd IAAF World Athletics Final
18:49 : Today's competition will start in around 45 minutes time and at present the weather is ideal.
18:50 : The morning's storms have cleared and we have blue skies 24 degrees Centigrade and a light breeze
18:54 : This evening's events start at 18.30 - 16.30 GMT - with the men's Pole Vault and the women's long jump and the men's discus throw
18:55 : The programme ends at 21.15 with the women's 100 metres
19:09 : The presentation of the athletes will take place shortly, when they do a tour of the stadium in some of the cars from the collection of the late Prince Rainier
19:38 : The winner of each event at the World AQthletics Final takes home 30,000 US dollars

Opening height is 5.45
Gibilisco, Stevenson, Lobinger, and Walker all pass to 5.60.
Pavlov clears on his first, Miles on his second, Blom and Mack take 3 attempts.
19:45 : They are currently at 5.45 metres in the pole vault
19:46 : World Champion Rens Blom has 2 failures at this height - so maybe he prefers the bad conditions he had in Helsinki
19:46 : he is over at his third try

Everybody clears 5.60 on their first attempt except Stevenson and Blom.
19:59 : up to 5.60 in the pole vault
20:01 : all remain in contention at this height
20:03 : Toby Stevenson has a second failure at this height

Stevenson clears on his third. Blom has 2 misses and appears to pass his third attempt.
Bar goes up to 5.70. Gibilisco passes.

At 5.70, Gibilisco and Stevenson pass. Lobinger and Walker clear on their first to tie for the lead. Blom appears to be out of the competition. Second attempts are up for Pavlov, Miles, and Mack.

Pavlov misses his third. Miles passes his third. Mack misses his third.

Gibilisco and Stevenson are still alive after passing 5.70, Miles has one jump left, and of course Lobinger and Walker are still alive.

I am talking to people watching the video feed. They say that Pavlov looked good, had huge height, but knocked it off.
Mack looked flat, didn't turn up his last jump.
Lobinger and Stevenson had good height over 5.70.

Gibilisco, Stevenson, Miles, and Lobinger all miss their first attempt at 5.78. That means Derek Miles is out, finishes with a 5.60 clearance.

Toby has a good second attempt at 5.78 but comes up a bit short.
