Isinbayeva Sets New Indoor Record
BBC News Report

Yelena Isinbayeva got her 2006 season off to a record-breaking start as she broke her world indoor pole vault mark.

The Russian Olympic and world champion rose the bar to 4.91m in her first competition of the season in Donetsk, to better her previous mark of 4.90m.

The Russian also holds the outdoor record of 5.01m set at last year's World Championships in Helsinki.

Isinbayeva will tune up for the defence of her World Indoor title at the Birmingham Grand Prix on 18 February.

The Russian's feat in the Ukraine was the 19th world mark set by the 23-year-old.

IAAF Story:
Isinbayeva 4.91 World indoor record in Donestsk
    Sunday 12 February 2006

Yelena Isinbayeva raised her World indoor record to 4.91* in her 2006 debut at the Pole Vault Stars competition in Donetsk, Ukraine.

Jumping before a capacity crowd at the Sport Palace Druzba, the reigning World and Olympic champion and twice World athlete of the year added a centimetre to her previous indoor standard of 4.90 set last year at the European Indoor Championships in Madrid. It was the 19th senior World record for the Volgograd native.

It was the third year in a row that the 23-year-old Russian raised the World indoor record in the Donetsk competition, traditionally the finest gathering of international Pole Vault talent each winter. In 2004, she upped the record with first attempt clearances of 4.81 and 4.83, and again last year, when she reached 4.87.

Look for a complete report later today.

Not that I'm trying to stir up trouble or anything, but ... do you think Isi's taking up too much of Petrov's time now?
