Bernardoni set a new meet record by winning the pole vault with a leap of 12-7, eclipsing the 12-6 set by Geneva's Sarah Landau two years ago. Bernardoni will be following Landau to Miami of Ohio in the fall where they will be collegiate teammates for two years.
"I'm getting it, I'm getting it," Bernardoni said to assistant coach Kathleen Hillman after coming up just short in three attempts at 13-feet. The 12-7 is a personal record, too, for the senior who won the state indoor title with a leap of 12-6.
"She's done 13-0 in practice," said Hillman. "She's gonna get it."
