Mammoser maintains focus
Discipline has always guided Newton's Eric Mammoser, and his relentless approach has him chasing a state pole-vault title.
He went 14-0 to tie for second last year, 3 inches shy of the first-place mark. But it's not 14-3 Mammoser is gunning for - he wants 15.
``He's right where he wants to be,'' Newton coach Bob Horst said. ``You get up there and the adrenaline is flowing, who knows? He's just missed 15 a couple times.''
Mammoser's best vault this season is 14-9, partially the result of better conditioning after his first seasons on the football and basketball teams.
