Father/Son vault records...

I'm curious to know about other Father/Son vaulters and whether they jumped at the same high school. Also, what is the best Father/Son vaults in the same season or meet?

My son Chase Shealy broke my old high school record of 13' 6" from 1978 :crying: (way back when the dinosaurs roamed the earth) as a sophomore at 15' 1" and eventually up to 17' 1" this year.

In the same season,... I would guess last year was our best Father/Son year with me at 12' and him at 16' 8". And I might add no practice for me, I just entered a couple of meets. The legs just don't last near as long when you are out of shape. LOL

Dennis and Matt Phillips have to be way up there. Matt has a lifetime best of 18-6 1/2 and Dennis... I don't know but it is high. I would guess Dennis has jumped at least 14 in the same year Matt has done 18 or higher, but Rick or someone from Oregon would have better numbers on that.

Both jumping in the same meet would be interesting - I have been in meets with my son and daugther - but Kyle and his dad Ken M45 World Champ last week - how about the Bell's - Pops Bell is one of the top in his age group- don't know if he and Earl ever vaulted in the same meet

Kyle and Ken who??? How high did he jump in M45?

Earl and Grandpa Bell would be an interesting one. What a great vault family. My guess is that they have been in at least a few comps together in their building.

Ken Ellis had been pretty consistent around 14' this year - don't know if he has gone over 15' - (Say him do that in a Hept a few years ago - His son is around 16'9" - Kyle is a member of this site) - His pop also won the M45 Deca in San Jaun -

We went to Vaultstock and Earl and Grandpa and one of Earl's brothers, and Earl's son all vaulted in the same meet. Earl jumped 14', Grandpa jumped 8'9", and I think Drew (Earl's son) jumped 11'6" or 12' I can't remember what Earl's brother jumped....he hadn't picked up a pole in years apparently!

Best ever combo would be Wojciech (18-00.50) & Piotr Buciarski (18-10.50) for a 18-05.75 average.

Best US combo would be Bob & Scott Slover with 17-08.50 & 18-08.75 respectively. For around an 18-02.75 average.

What about father & daughter? Maybe Vladimir & Nastja Ryshich? 16-04.75 & 14-09.50 for a 15-07.50 average?

What about mother daughter combos! I know Donna Schultz has done 9' or 9'6" as a masters vaulter, and her daughter Kate Soma has done around 13'10" at UW :star:

Bob and Brandon Richards.
