Becca, you know what would be kind of nice, is a meters to feet and visa versa calculator. that way I would know what the hell 5m is
,I know it is somewhere around 16-17'. The purdue pole vault website has one that I always use.

Metric converstions are a pain. I went out of the way a few years ago to memorize the metric marks for all the heights I jump at.
There are some metric calculators on the internet, but they are not exactly accurate down to a quarter inch for track and field. Bill Roe gave me a conversion chart for doing the all comers meets.
5.00 meters is 16-4.75

okay here's the conversions, since i've been in new zealand and trying to convert my meters into feet so i got the digit memorized , you still have to have a calculator though, but its:
(meters) * 3.2808 = feet
and (feet) * .3048 = meters
i hope this kind of helps
