pole flexes

Unread postby Benjamin1205 » Sun May 22, 2005 12:02 am

i have 2 poles that are 15 feet long. They are both pacer, actually the stiffier one is a pace fx. The regular pacer is a 150 lb pole with a flex of 21.5 and the other is a 160 lb pole with a 20.1 flex. Im on the 150 lb pole and my standerds are about 20 inches back and im a half foot from the top of the pole. How much harder would it be to get up on the 160 pole, i havent tried it ever. How much difference does 1.5 less of a flex make. How much stiffer is the 160? Should i be able to make it into the mats with the 160?

In most cases 1. will be about an est. 5lbs you have 1.4 range so about 7-8 lbs only the original manufacter can provide exacts. If you can drive the box and get a very good take off angle you can with a 1/2 fist increase in grip manage a 3-4 lbs increase.

As you can see it is more than the resisitance of the pole, it is your take off velocity and transfer of energy into the vault that wil help you get the stiffer pole moving properly.

MAke sure you have a certified coach and extr padding in the front of the pit to protect you.
Do not let go of the pole if you stall. Move standards up a bit too!!

if you have the standards at 20, there is no reason for you to even try it right now. it is not a huge jump, but on that pole you may not be able to clear a height since you have the standards so close on the smaller pole. You should probably wait until you need the standards closer to 28 or even more before thinking about changing poles.
