So here's the deal.. The local pole vault gurus in my neighbourhood keep saying: "Never get on a pole rated for a lower weight than yours - it will disrupt your learning of a proper technique"
Let's test this:
If I weigh 150 lbs and a 13'-150lbs pole is to big for me - do I go for a 12'6-150lbs?
If this fits me perfectly - what will the natural progression be, once I am ready for a bigger pole? Do I go for increased weight rating og longer pole? Or dare I say it: Do I try moving down the 12'6-150lbs pole before going for a 13'-150lbs?
Perhaps the questions are nonsense - just trying to figure it out..
Am I wrong here?
