i know this has probably been posted before but i cant find it so could somebody help me on the flex number is it the higher the number the stiffer the pole or the lower the number the stiffer the pole because i need to know before i order a new pole

like is a 150 15' pole with a flex number of 8.4 softer or stiffer than the same pole with a flex number of 7.0

because the pole i am currently jumping on is a 150 14' altius pole with a rating of 8.4 and i need some help ordering because i don't want to get it too soft and mush it everytime

You are right, this has been discussed before. The number for Altius represents inches (other brands use centimeters) of deflection when 50 lbs are hung from the middle of it and the ends are supported at the appropriate locations. The more bend, the higher the number and the softer the pole.

ok so for a stiffer pole i should get a lower flex number

You can't compare flex numbers on poles of different lengths. They are measured using different spans.

A 15'150 will be stiffer than a 14'150 if you grip the same height (say 13'9) on both.

althought... 4.90, 5.00, 5.10, and 5.20m pacer poles are all flexed on the same span, so those numbers are comparable
